Review:
I’m so glad i randomly selected this show to watch. This show may not have rated high but I loved it a lot! Each of the characters were relatable and are the different kinds of travellers you normally meet in a group tour!

Yoon So-so and San Maru – I think if this was in real life, we will call their relationship as a rebound romance or a travel fling. Except this is a korean drama so this is supposed to be destiny and eternal love. I love Yoon So-so and i can totally feel her pain and embarrassment. That’s why never make plans for another person, always be sure, you are planning for yourself. Yoon so-so fell in love, eloped in Paris and got dumped. She is too ashamed to face her family and she kept out of touch and is trying to finish her college degree to save face. I think that’s not a bad idea. She is already there in France, might as well make the most of it. On the other hand, I can understand the brother telling her sister to just go home – she doesn’t have to stay to prove people and to save face. her family still loves her and will take care of her. But I agree with So-so, she needed that time alone in France to discover herself and become confident again before coming back to Korea. As for San Maru, i applaud him for maintaining his integrity despite the risk of losing his job and girlfriend. This is the second drama (after Misaeng) where office workers are treated badly and unfairly – i’m scared if this is really how Korean companies work or this is purely fictional. First off, Maru should not have told the girlfriend or his manager. The protocol for whistleblowing is to report the incident to an independent officer – such as the compliane officer or anonymously. Ugh, i hate the girlfriend!! I think in some ways she loved Maru too, but she is a coward and a follower – and i think eventually she and Maru will never work out. Because Maru is independent. He is crazy and accident prone lol. He needs someone free spirited like So-so. I love how he ended up going to South Africa to do what’s right – a little naive and too nice but i think we need more Maru in this current times. I may have said that Soso and Maru seems like a travel fling – and it’s mostly because they only met for a few days and they’re already in love. They dont even know each other outside of the tour and I’m glad both had the sense and broke up. The whole destiny is absurd but the chances of them meeting after a few weeks or months in the airport going back to Korea is actually possible. I hope there is a season 2 where So so is back in Korea.

Gyung Jae and So Ran – at first i didn’t like Soran. why is she thinking of another guy when she has a perfectly nice boyfriend? and why does she keep creating rumors or stories about their other travellers? and why does she keeps shopping – does she make that much money? but later on, i ended up liking her. she may be gossipy but she’s actually a nice lady. i could understand why she was thinking of the other guy – it’s because nothing seems to be happening with her current relationship and the guy is jobless and is not proposing to her. after 7 years i think it is fair for them to reflect on their status and what they really want to happen. As for the guy, i think he is a nice guy, he just doesn’t know what to do with his life. I was crying when he found out he didn’t get the investment and he was crying in the bathroom. I’m glad Soran decided to stand by and support him. So what if they dont have the grand life? as long as they’re together then they can weather the storm.

The old couple – gah, the old man is the traveller i hate to be with – always complaining and shouting. I feel bad for the nice wife – always having to apologize for her husband and be embarrassed. i wish they communicated more. Old man knows his wife has cancer and being a typical guy, he doesn’t want to cry and instead lashed out at people. Most of the time we got angry because he cared for his wife and he wanted her to enjoy life rather than just kept focusing on her death, which i totally agree. The wife should be happy to have a husband who loves her so much but the guy should also tone down his rudeness. I was crying with them when they were crying and kissing on top of the double decker bus. It was a sweet moment for the couple.

Yoon Seung and Na hyun – i think the show took a long time to introduce their story. I had a feeling they were father and daughter, i just didn’t know their story. The dad seems so devoted to the bratty girl and to the girlfriend, i was scared that the girlfriend was cheating on him. Whew! dang show trying to trip us viewers. i also loved their relationship and likewise, i brokedown when the dad got down on his knees for her daughter not to get expelled from school. Sometimes i also wanted to strangle the daughter for being so mean to the dad. i think she was just going through her rebellious teenager phase and she was so used to treating her father as a friend that she forgot that she is her father. I’m glad the father finally stepped up and scolded his daughter. She needed a little discipline and learn to respect her father. Again, cried a lot.

I’ve never been to France so watching this show, i felt like i was part of their group tour and was able to see each of the famous sites. I loved everything, from the pacing, to the stories, the music, the locations. How i wish So-so was a real tour guide – i will definitely join her tour!

Plot: Lee Young Jun is a handsome, smart, rich but arrogant guy. One day, his secretary, Kim Mi So, suddenly decided to quit
after working for him for 9 years. he tries his best to make her stay and they slowly fall in love.

Cast:
Park Seo Jun – Lee Young Jun
Park Min Young – Kim Mi So
Lee Tae Hwan – Lee Sung Yeon
Kang Ki Young – Park Yoo Shik

Review:
this is a very simple story of a guy and a girl falling in love after knowing each other for several years. The differences are that Mi-so works for Young Jun and they have a history together.

The things I loved about the show:
Young jun and Mi-so individually and as a couple were great. The two leads have such sizzling chemistry. I love all of their interactions together. In the office, they make a great team – Miso is like the most efficient secretary I have ever seen. She knows Young Jun so well and can probably finish his sentences. I am a bit surprised that her role is not just limited to scheduling this meetings. I’m not sure if this is the Korean version of a “secretary” as Miso seemed to be more of her “right hand woman”. Compare her to Yooshik’s secretary whose role is just to be his secretary – run some errands, schedule his meetings. As for Young Jun, most of the description about his role is that he is smart, rich, handsome and arrogant – but i beg to disagree on the 4th one. I dont think he is arrogant, i think he is confident and he knows who he is and what he can do. When he tells people how great he is, he is not boasting but merely stating facts. I like that he is a very considerate boss – he may drive his team to work really hard, but he treats them fairly and never puts them down. he is honest and provides positive feedback when Miso /the team makes a mistake. He is sometimes a bit clueless and I dont think he’s insensitive – but rather he is just not used to normal things that average people do. Like eating ramen or street food. I like how he is willing to try them. I love that the flashbacks showed how they both started working together – Young Jun was a young professional and Miso was the poor, not a college graduate secretary. We saw how they both grew up and mature over time, how Young Jun taught her to speak different languages, tried to developed her until she became the badass secretary that she is now. As a couple, it was interesting for me to see them try to move from being professional to romantic lovers. there were a lot of awkward scenes – such as secretary Kim still trying to do her secretary duties while on a date, Young Jun trying to be the “guy” in the relationship. Likewise, since they are each other’s firsts, it was funny to see them act shy and unsure in terms of skinship. Sometimes feel that Kim Mi-so makes a lot of this “too smiley face” that it looks fake but looking back, i think she fake smiles when she is uncomfortable, dont know what to do or when she is embarrassed. I also love how they are honest with each other, how Miso did not misunderstand when Young Jun had a kiss phobia – after 2 failed attempts at kissing, I was hoping for Miso to just take the lead and kiss him and I’m glad she did! The original plot was Secretary Kim wanted to quit to “find” herself, and i thought that it was simply a plot device and that they forgot about it until episode 14/15 where they went back to the original plot. I think that Miso was perfect in her role as secretary, but i also thought that it seems weird for her to continue working for him once they get married. Maybe it would have been better if she moved to a different role in the company or.. go back to college and get her degree as she originally wanted. By this time, it doesn’t matter if she leaves work or not since they are already together. and I love that Young Jun decided to let her do what she wants.

The main mystery was about the kidnapping that happened when they were young. at first i though, oh what a coincidence, Miso ended up working for Young Jun, who was that boy she was with when she was kidnapped. how convenient but turns out Miso working for Young Jun’s company may be coincidental, but everything else was not. Young Jun specifically chose her to be his secretary because he wanted her beside him and helped her become a better version of herself. When the entire story was revealed, all the more i felt how powerful Young Jun’s love for Miso and everything he did just suddenly made much more sense. Why he fought for her, why he groomed her, why he did not want her to quit. I was crying buckets of tears around episode 12-13. And his relationship between his parents and brother was just so sad. I wanted to hate the brother but finding out he was also psychologically scarred from the experience and the young boy version felt so guilty about what he did to his own brother that he changed his memory. ohmygad. More buckets of tears. And when Young Jun finally broke down and cried in his office when his parents finally confronted him and apologized for what happened. Oceans of tears. I’m glad the family was able to slowly recover – especially the brother.

The office team was the reliever of the show. Bora was so funny and her relationsip with the Driver Jang was so cute. The story between the intern secretary and employee was at first annoying (well, the guy was super annoying), but i ended up liking the pair too.

Of course, we can’t forget Yoo shik the best friend. To be honest, i didn’t like the actor when I watched him in Bring it on ghost (the one with Taecyeon) and when he was in Oh My Ghostess (as the sous chef). But he was hilarious here and in Terius Behind Me. Yooshik always gave the best advices to Young Jun and sometimes i wished Young Jun also listened to him. I know it was for comic relief but imagine having a best friend who ridicules you when he talk about wanting to get back together with your ex-wife or cancels your plans to go with the girlfriend.

Overall, i think this drama was hilarious but with a lot of heart and romance…until episode 13. The last 3 episodes felt more like fillers. I was still okay seeing them have their first fight, their first night, Young Jun’s proposing to her and the wedding but i wished they added more side plots to keep it interesting.

Terius Behind Me eps. 28-32 (Final)

This show is finally over! I am happy that they were able to close out all the loose ends but also sad that I won’t be seeing So Ji Sub for the next months until he chooses another project.

My thoughts on the last few episodes. Warning: Lots of spoilers.

First is Yong Tae. Finally we see him act bravely and help the NIS catch the Voice. I didn’t expect Yong Tae to get shot in plain view. I thought he would have a more dramatic death – maybe while protecting Bon. Oh, wait never mind. Turns out he is not dead. he survived and he opened a Handsome Man Café (or something like that). The last conversation between Bon and Yong Tae was touching. Bon got him a new name — Wang Minam, and is supposed to be Wang Jeong Nam’s brother. awwww.. and Minam fits so well since it means “handsome”. I hope the two still keep in touch now and then. I like that Yong Tae learned his lesson. He paid his dues by helping NIS but now he must live a plain and simple life. and sometimes simple is better.

So we were right, the bad guys are Director Shim and the voice. Captain Kwon and Bon had a good conversation and decided to band together when they find out about Director Shim. Did not expect Shim to be the one who shot Bon when he was in Poland!! Argh! What a jerk! To think  he shot and left his staff to die!!! Such betrayal. and not just to Bon, both Jiyeon as well. Good thing Jiyeon finally became smart and doubted the Director before she can hand the meaty documents. But I was shocked when she was ran over by the van!!! and more shocked to find it’s that counterterrorist guy who helped during the school bomb scare! Director shim must be a real psycho (or sociopath) to feel so indifferent about killing people he has known for years. all for CornerStone. like what the heck!

even to the end we didn’t really get any good explanation about CornerStone and the Voice – what their motives were that drove them to do all of this nonsense killings. This is one of the weaker parts of the drama. All throughout the story we just heard of CornerStone this and that but I never felt like it was real, because how big is this “company” that it can do all those things. and for 1 person “The Voice” to call all the shots. I don’t know who  else is part of the CornerStone organization – so far we know the Voice, the head of NIS and the counterterrorist guy. who else? is there anyone from the government involved? and it wasn’t even a big scandal/national news when they got caught.

On the side, I want to comment on the Voice’s housekeeper. The scene between her and Bon was funny. hilarious. sexy. I would probably do the same  thing if Bon came over wanting to repair my internet lol.

As for Jiyeon and Do Woo, I’m glad Jiyeon is fine after the nasty accident. and it really takes a life changing event for people to realize who are the most important people. I know Do Woo seemed like he had a crush on Jiyeon and I never minded Do Woo because I thought he was younger than Jiyeon. Good job of him changing his hair color – was it intentional to signify his maturity? But after the accident like Ji Yeon, I saw him in a new light. He really does care for Jiyeon and he seems like a nice guy. And Jiyeon deserves to be with someone who can take care of her, because Bon is just way beyond her reach. I’m not saying Jiyeon is not good enough for Bon, but that Bon only sees her as a friend and colleague and she matches better with Do Woo.

I will miss the KIS neighbors!! The scene where they gathered together before Bon leaves for his new assignment was poignant. And funny that the fortuneteller’s fortune actually came true! haha! Sangryul begging for a nose to nose with Bon was half creepy half hysterical! and I will never forget the neighborhood moms getting all fired up whenever they see Bon walking towards the bus stop. Kudos to the team who thought of using TLC’s “Creep” as the background music. Bon is surely not a creep but the intro fits so well.

I will also miss the kids!! Bon is like the sweetest “dad”. I’m sure there will be more precious moments when Bon visits them in-between assignments.

Bon and Aerin. I’m actually not so sure about the ending. On one hand, I think Aerin really makes a good spy. She is observant, quick thinking and brave. Most of the time, I think she is way better than Jiyeon. But she has 2 young kids and she has no babysitter. I don’t think it’s the smartest job for her to take right now. Who will take care of her kids when she goes on assignments? Will the neighborhood moms help her or will she keep them in Jeju with the grandparents? And what if she dies? The kids will become orphans!! The romance between Bon and Aerin? I still think they are just “good friends” who went through a lot together. They share a close bond and have deep respect for each other, but I don’t think it’s love. Not yet anyways. They do make a great partnership. Them working together for Aerin’s first assignment is a splendid idea. Maybe a sequel?? they can call it “Terius Beside Me”. LOL. Sorry for the awful title.

Overall, I loved the show! it has a mix of everything – comedy, action, mystery, friendship, family. It perfectly showcased how versatile So Ji Sub is – he can do action, drama and comedy without missing a single beat. I have never watched any of the 3’s dramas so it was nice seeing new faces. I heard the show ended in the top spot of the ratings during its entire run! Hats off to the team who worked so hard. Looking forward to the next So Ji Sub project! (Please come back soon after you have a good rest this winter break!)

Terius Behind Me eps. 23-27

Of course Kim Bon survives the car bomb (as if there was any fear of him dying). I was curious to see how he was able to escape and I was a bit disappointed that someone just handed him a key to his handcuffs and he just upped and left the van. Seriously, the van stopped right in the middle of the road, with no other cars and the other car following closely behind. Yet they didn’t notice him and the guards open the door and run to the side. *rolls eyes* but it’s okay. He’s alive. Now makes you wonder, as Bon later on said, “who wants him dead and who wants him alive.” The most logical reasoning is it’s the lady Chief who wants him alive – so who’s the real bad guy? there are no other characters left so I’m guessing it’s the Director. and it turns out the Voice is quite a powerful guy in the government!

I like the short separation between Kim Bon and his friends – it felt like we entered the 3rd and last chapter – the slow burn before we reach the climax. It was nice to see Aerin temporarily move to Jeju Island to stay with her parents. It must have been a welcome change from the all the stress and “deaths” in the city. Bon showing up suddenly in Jeju was a great surprise and his funny ajumma clothes were funnier! How can he make ugly ajumma clothes so sexy is beyond me. and I really love his deadpan humor.

Oh and his loud snoring was hilarious!! I can imagine his charismatic image just got shattered because of this night. it makes him look human though, not just super agent and babysitter extraordinaire.

The reunion of Bon and Jiyeon and Do Woo was sweet – you can really see how deep their friendship is. and this also means the operation if back on. This time, they really need to catch the bad guys. How many lives does Bon have left?

Another nice scene is Bon’s dinner with the KIS neighbors. After all these years of being alone, Bon must feel very touched to find real friends outside of NIS. Real people who like him just as he is. Who missed him and gave welcomed him back to the neighborhood.

while KIS and NIS never got a chance to work together directly, I love that KIS is just so dang useful, sometimes even more than NIS. Jiyeon needed someone to go into the Voice’s house as a housekeeper so they can have intel on the house layout and steal the documents they need as evidence. She asks the help of Aerin, who agreed, because she finally found out the truth about her husband and wants to seek retribution. KIS to the rescue as Eunha was able to secure a job invite through her father in law, and helped train Aerin to pass the interview. the Head housekeeper is meticulous, to never comment about her looks, needs someone with a great sense of taste, and has a weakness for handsome guys. Aerin passed the interview and now the team has a shot in finding the documents! I just hope Aerin does not get caught!!

Last 2 1/2 episodes left – there are still so many unanswered questions and I hope they don’t rush the episodes!
